Real Wedding: Janet & Shawn

Posted November 23, 2015

Janet didn’t need to worry too much about her “something blue”. Shawn had it covered in the form of his sweetly personal note, delivered on the eve of their wedding, with a list of “days since” highlights from their relationship handwritten in blue ink. Shawn couldn’t have chosen a more meaningful way to kick off this amazing couple’s wedding day. Relaxed and ready to celebrate, Janet and Shawn had a perfect spring wedding last May that simply oozed that beloved mature, classic southern charm that only a Piedmont Club reception can.

Their celebration was the culmination of all their group of friend’s weddings, so they knew they wanted to shape it to be the grand finale—each decision was well planned for quite the party. Janet and Shawn said their vows in a gorgeous traditional church. The bridal party attire was elegant and relaxed, with the ever-Southern gold Jack Rogers sandals under floor length blush wrap-style gowns, while the men wore sophisticated and classic navy suits. Janet’s “Jacks” were customized with little blue crystals set into the bottoms of the soles that spelled out “I Do”. We loved Janet’s genteel chignon updo; it paired perfectly with her belted gown and teardrop earrings.

After the ceremony, the bridal party boarded an old fashioned trolley to transport them to the reception at the Piedmont Club. Both the church they exchanged vows in as well as the Piedmont Club are timeless, beautiful venues that didn’t need much help looking beautiful, so the couple wisely kept the decor understated. They used only a few framed photographs of them and their adorable dog Winston (their [fur]baby!), and a few pieces of tastefully simple and chic custom wooden signage for the ceremony and reception (‘Welcome to Our Beginning’ and ‘Welcome to Our Party’—so perfect!) paired with perfectly relaxed spring florals. Their monogrammed cake, almost too gorgeous to eat, was in impressive centerpiece to the reception: five tiers were iced in refined rustic cream and metallic gold.

The reception was packed with more southern charm: their “Cheers, Y’all!” wedding favors, and the menu of good old fashioned Southern comfort food: fried green tomatoes, and sliders and fries in martini glasses. The live jazz band kept everyone dancing all night. The Piedmont Club is one of our favorite venues, with its huge porches, reminiscent of a Charleston plantation home. Their exit was as fabulous as their day: massive 36 inch sparklers (bigger really is better, when it comes to sparklers) lined the way to a beautiful vintage car. The driver, a friend of the family, came dressed complete in a tux and a top hat! We loved being part of this classic and beautiful day, Janet and Shawn! Congratulations!
