Real Wedding: Jessica & David

Posted October 6, 2015

A culture-infused, luxe wedding in a hip downtown locale, with a who’s who of vendors and a gigantic party complete with hand rolled cigars? Um….YES PLEASE! Where do we sign up?! Jessica and David, who live in Miami, FL, chose downtown Greenville for their wedding after visiting and promptly falling in love with all the people and places that make our city so charming. Nearly each their hundred-plus guests were from Miami and had come to town just for the wedding. Jessica and David made sure it was worth the trip: Guests were treated to some of the very best that Greenville has to offer. This was no DIY wedding. Instead, there were tons of posh details, like the custom scented, hand poured candle favors for guests. Each place setting was topped with one in metallic Mercury glass vases. During the cocktail hour, a cigar roller hand rolled Cuban cigars. A “late night snack” of Circa donuts (a downtown gourmet, small batch specialty) was set out for guests to enjoy in individually packaged boxes. Every detail came together in the picture of elegance, while also honoring their Latina culture.

It was also so apparent that this couple treasured their “people”. Family was prominently involved in their wedding. Many of their guests many were part of the couple’s large extended families and made up a large part of their bridal party. The officiant that married the couple was a close friend of the bride and groom. The closeness of the family was clear and made the celebration feel even more meaningful. Even the groom’s beloved doggie was included! He walked down the aisle in the processional, wore tiny tuxedo cuffs and collar, danced with the couple during their first dance, and faithfully lay watching during the reception. The couple even ordered a tiny custom cake topper for their “cake buffet” of decadent cakes from local favorite restaurant & bakery. A tiny bride and groom sat under a “Mr. & Mrs.” bunting, complete with a tiny replica of their pup at the groom’s feet. It’s not uncommon for couples to include the most important people in their lives in their wedding day, and we love when couples like Jessica & David stay true to themselves and include who they want (even of the canine variety!).

Complete in shades of shimmery champagne, metallic golds, and a blush infused palate of neutrals, this wedding literally sparkled with elegance. We loved the custom touches by Modfete, including the birch altar with asymmetrical cascades of roses and eucalyptus leaves and other mixed natural greenery. The grand staircase of the Old Cigar Warehouse (where the couple held their ceremony AND reception) was lined with more of the thick garland of florals that sat on the alter. The reception glowed with hundreds of tiny cream votives and eucalyptus leaf installments suspended from the ceiling over the tables. The guestbook table was covered in metallic gold framed prints of the couple’s engagement photos, taken in breathtaking Portland, Oregon. The couple loves to travel and made sure to incorporate their adventures into the wedding decor. Vintage suitcases served as a perch for the guestbook, a huge globe that guests signed in metallic ink. Chic furniture was arranged into lounge and conversation areas on the deck cocktail hour. No detail was left out: Even the three tiny flower girls wore custom floral crowns.

In a unique twist, the bride and groom made their “grand exit” immediately after the ceremony! They kissed and walked down the aisle into the hidden bridal suite for a shared moment alone. While they waited, their guests formed a tunnel outside the door. The couple walked through a tunnel of tossed rose petals and exited to the far side of the parking lot. The bridal party followed to sneak in a few more photographs, while the rest of the wedding guests moved up to the deck of Old Cigar Warehouse to enjoy cocktail hour, cigars, and a blend of traditional & contemporary acoustic music by Wirewood. Every gorgeous detail of their wedding day was captured by Chris Isham (see more below!). Jessica and David, we hope you enjoyed sampling all the delights that Greenville has to offer! Come back soon!
