“North wedded South” last September when Lindsey and Patrick tied the knot downtown Greenville in an elegant southern style at the Certus Loft. Lindsey is a Carolina girl born and bred, while Patrick grew up in New York, and the couple met “in the middle” at Duke University. They did a fantastic job of integrating their separate worlds into their wedding as they joined their lives and different backgrounds together. We LOVE the Certus Loft, which they chose as their venue; it is so versatile and able to fit a variety of wedding day styles. For a completely different wedding day look and feel in that same spot, check out Allyson & Brian!
The wedding was styled in royal blue, a nod to their beloved shared alma mater. The royal blue made a bright contrast against the natural wood floors and exposed brick walls of the space, and added an elegant feel to the causal wood and burlap textures in the runners and place cards. Lindsey’s bridesmaids wore elegant floor length royal blue gowns with a varied array of necklines. A bright mix of flowers in the bouquets added a colorful splash against the deep hue of the bridal party gowns. Her darling little niece served as flower girl, who was dressed to the nines in a sweet little white gown with a big royal blue sash and matching rose petals filling the lining of her long tulle skirt. The groomsman also had small “Duke” details worked into their charcoal grey suits- they wore sharp looking gold ties with small navy polka dots.
The Duke blue and complementing shades of gold and white were woven even further into the small touches of their day, such as their unity sand, place cards and cake. The couple went took a fun DIY approach to their centerpieces, choosing to go light on florals and using just a few bright blooms. The simple blooms allowed the focus to settle on the deep pop of blue in the wine bottle vases, and the elegantly folded matching royal blue napkins. The couple selected reusable bags for favors, sporting their “North Weds South” logos and proudly displayed custom image of the Statue of Liberty and a Palmetto tree combined into one icon. Our favorite detail of the day was the guest book, which was a hand crafted wooden puzzle, made by a beloved uncle. Such a cool and meaningful addition! The couple saved one fun wedding day memory for last—they chose to exit amid a festive tunnel of high fives instead of the more traditional sparklers or bubbles. We loved how excited everyone was, and the funny pictures that resulted! Keep scrolling for those, as well as more lovely images by one of our favorites, Red Apple Tree Photography!
