Real Wedding: Michelle & Todd

Posted February 18, 2016

If you are thinking of having a small wedding, look no further for a how-to guide than Michelle and Todd’s incredibly romantic, intimate wedding last June. Held entirely at the glamorous Westin Poinsett hotel, these two had a wedding small in attendees but big in style. The Poinsett is a beautiful historic hotel nestled in the heart of downtown Greenville. It is breathtaking with its soaring ceilings, elegantly appointed ballrooms and upscale ambiance. It’s the perfect location for a wedding heavy on swanky details, like the harpist that played during the ceremony and cocktail hour, and luxe style.

Just the two of them stood at the altar as they exchanged their vows. Michelle’s form fitting sheath gown with a gorgeous illusion back and a tiny sweep train was perfect for the occasion: understated, regal and timelessly beautiful. The best part was the little peekaboo glimpses as she walked of her amazing “something blue”. Michelle’s shoes were one of the most highly coveted pairs of shoes of all time: the “Carrie Bradshaw” wedding shoes that Mr. Big used to propose to Carrie with on Sex & the City. Royal blue satin, jeweled brooch encrusted Manolo Blahnik “Hangisi” heels with impossibly high heels and an instant impression of haute fashion. We LOVED how this bride’s look was kept classic and simple, with a pop of style so big it nearly stole the show.

With a guest list of under 30, the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception were held in the same sweeping ballroom. Urban Petals filled the ballroom with lavish florals done in blush, cream and green neutrals. The opulent florals only made the already lovely ballroom feel even more luxurious. The smaller number of guests allowed the couple to splurge on an unforgettable four course seated dinner of extravagant foods such as “fire and ice” salad: seared duck breast salads served on miniature ice sculptures plates, each backlit with LED lights to match the decor—not to mention some of the other stand out items including scallops,  and perfectly prepared Kobe beef. It was a close knit, intimate crowd, and the bride and groom relished the opportunity to treat their guests to this amazing thank you for supporting them. We loved how this couple splurged on such luxe food and beverages for their guests, and it felt more like an ultra exclusive, private party than a traditional wedding reception.

After the cake cutting, the guests all gathered for a big group picture with the bride and groom. A group photograph is not something that is typically feasible, and we just adored how Michelle and Todd seized opportunities to really take every advantage of enjoying their small wedding. The guests hugged the bride and groom and departed to their rooms, while Michelle and Todd snuck up to the iconic hotel rooftop for some private newlywed photos. We can’t think of a better way to have a small wedding. Congratulations Michelle and Todd!
