Real Wedding: Patrice & Wes

Posted May 21, 2015

Stunning. Striking. Showstopping.

There are no other words that immediately come to mind when we recall this couple’s fairy tale day. It’s not every bride that can pull off a wedding themed around purple, and have it look elegant, modern, tasteful and expertly styled. Patrice and Wes blew us away with their July wedding done in Radiant Orchid—also known as Pantone’s wedding color of the year for 2014—supported by shades of purple, fuchsia and a light, bright green. The evening before the wedding (on the 4th of July), the wedding party and immediate family enjoyed a private dinner atop the Innovate Building downtown, complete with the Groom’s mom’s recipe for Jamaican Rum Cake as the groom’s cake, recognizing the Jamaican heritage. They wrapped up that evening by watching the downtown’s fireworks celebration—what a precursor to a wedding day!

Allie & Grace had the pleasure of helping this couple’s elegant day run smoothly. The bridal party kicked off the day by getting updo’s by Mychals Hair Studio and slipping in to their floor length, sweetheart neckline gowns. Patrice was the picture of elegance in her slightly fitted, full skirted gown accented with a delicate sparkling lace overlay. Her ensemble was completed by a fabulous pair of gunmetal silver patent leather pumps. The ceremony, which took place at Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church, set the stage for a beautiful day with it’s soaring, wood planked dome ceiling and all important center aisle. Botanica Event Design artfully placed vases of cream and purple hued florals down the center aisle, and expertly laid the white satin runner before heading to the reception.

After the ceremony, the wedding celebration continued at the chic Certus Loft in downtown Greenville. Table 301 provided the mouth watering cuisine, followed by Uptown Entertainment getting the party started on the dance floor, which was complete with their personalized wedding monogram projected in light. The couple had more show stopping touches placed throughout the reception space including: tall, polished mercury glass candelabras held glowing candles and vibrant roses in purple and cream hues, and modern white lounge furniture seating. Eggplant majestic table linens were set with silver satin napkins and menu cards with the couple’s monogram. The popular trend for a personalized, signature drink during cocktail hour was definitely a highlight earlier in the evening, as guests enjoyed “Dr. Love” (a nod to both of the couple’s professions).  Holly’s Cakes supplied an impressive five tier cake, decorated with tiny frosting rosette clusters and set on a mirrored table surface, offset with a glittering, jeweled chandelier hanging just above. The chandelier above the cake was such a unique idea- we loved it! It made the cake even more of a focal point than normal, and added to the overall feel of elegance the couple planned for their day.

Carlisle Videography was onsite, capturing those unforgettable moments and words through their always-impressive cinematography. Shawn Stom Photography snapped the traditional shots for the couple, but the real fun was caught by Oh Snap Photobooth as guests enjoyed crowding in during the reception for even more fun. At the conclusion of the party, the bride and groom were swept away through a tunnel of sparklers as they walked off into the warm summer night back to their hotel.
